Femtocells may well change the shape and operation of mobile networks over the next few years. These compact devices (the size of a paperback book) combine the functionality of a 3G mobile cellsite, broadband DSL modem and WiFi hotspot all in one. These products are forecast to be commercially available from over 20 networks before the end of 2010. As with mobile phones, they must be sold in conjunction with a mobile phone operator because they use licenced spectrum. Initially, they are likely to be subsidised as part of a package deal. This book explains the technology, describes the key vendors, suggests likely business models and provides insights into this exciting new development of mobile networks.

In 1984 physicists discovered a monster in the world of crystallography, a structure that appeared to contain five-fold symmetry axes, which cannot exist in strictly periodic structures. Such quasi-periodic structures became known as quasicrystals. A previously formulated theory in terms of higher dimensional space groups was applied to them and new alloy phases were prepared which exhibited the properties expected from this model more closely. Thus many of the early controversies weredissolved. This primer is intended to provide a descriptive approach to the subject for those coming to it for the first time. The various practical, experimental, and theoretical topics are dealt with in an accessible style. The book is completed by problem sets and there is a computer program that generates a Penrose lattice. Following the success of the first and second editions the opportunity has been taken to reprint the second edition in paperback at a more modest price.

The use of paints, varnishes and enamels for decoration is nearly as old as human culture itself. These are widely used in homes as well as in industry because painted surfaces are attractive and easy to keep clean. Paint is generally made up of a pigment. It is a chemical material, which alters the color of reflected or transmitted light due to wavelength-selective absorption. Varnish is a transparent, hard, protective finish or film primarily used in wood finishing but also for other materials. Varnish is traditionally a combination of a drying oil, a resin, and a thinner or solvent. The technology of paints, varnishes and enamels is changing rapidly and becoming more complex each day. The paint industry is an important segment of the chemical industry. Enamel paint is paint that air dries to a hard, usually glossy, finish, used for coating surfaces that are outdoors or otherwise subject to wear or variations in temperature. The Indian paint industry has seen a gradual shift in the preferences of people from the traditional whitewash to higher quality paints like emulsions and enamel paints with improvement in lifestyle. India is the second largest consumer of paint in Asia. Over the past few years, the Indian paint market has substantially grown and caught the attention of many major players. The market for paints in India is expected to grow at 1.5 times to 2 times GDP growth rate in the coming years. In terms of volumes, pigments demand is expected to reach 4.4 million tonnes. Due to increased Government funding for infrastructure, demand for paints both in industrial and decorative segment is set to rise, thereby rendering Indian paint industry to be poised for further growth. This handbook is designed for use by everyone engaged in the paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels industry. It provides all the information of the various formulae and processes of paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels. The major content of the book are paint testing, color in paint, maintenance paints, emulsion paints, exterior or interior paints, exterior or interior multicolor paints, exterior swimming pool paints and enamels, interior ceiling paints, metal paints, marine paints, enamel paints, interior fire- retardant paints, interior gloss paints, paint formulation, manufacture of natural copal varnishes, floor paints and enamels, varnishes, lacquers and floor finishes, white pigments, colored pigments, pigment dispersion etc. The book contains addresses of plant & machinery suppliers with their Photographs. It will be a standard reference book for professionals, entrepreneurs, those studying and researching in this important area and others interested in the field of paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels technology.

(LIMITED EDITION- ONLY PHOTOSTAT COPY AVAILABLE) The technology of paints, varnishes and allied products is changing rapidly and becoming more complex each day. The paint industry is an important segment of the chemical industry. Paint technology utilizes the science of chemistry, physics and engineering. The paint industry is broadly classified into decorative and industrial segment. Decorative paints consist 70% of market. Paints, varnishes, and allied product industry is gaining ground at a rapid pace in modern time accompanied with closed advance in surface coating technology. They are formulated for specific purposes like outside house paints and exterior varnishes are intended to give good service when exposed to weathering; interior wall paints are formulated to give excellent coverage. Varnish is one of the important parts of surface coating industry. Varnish is a transparent, hard, protective finish or film primarily used in wood finishing but also for other materials. Varnishes are also applied over wood stains as a final step to achieve a film for gloss and protection.Paint is any liquid, liquefiable, or mastic composition which after application to a substrate in a thin layer is converted to an opaque solid film. It is most commonly used to protect, colour or provide texture to objects. The paint industry volume in India has been growing at 15% per annum for quite some years now. As far as the future growth prospects are concerned, the industry is expected to grow at 12 to 13% annually over the next five years. The technology is required to produce different type of new paints and varnishes based on different type of uses. These newer products have enabled paint manufacturers to improve the performance properties of their paints and coatings and so satisfy the more stringent requirements of our modern industrial society. The future for industrial paints, varnishes and allied product is bright. The contents of this book include Acrylic emulsion paints, Aluminium Paint, Cement Paint, Industrial paint, N.C.Thinner, Oil Based Paint, Paint Additives, Red Oxide Paint, Stoving Paint, Varnishes etc. It also highlights the Paint industry in India. This book is intended to present the latest technical information technology of raw materials formulations, production, testing and application. This book will be an invaluable resource for professionals, industrialists, new entrepreneurs etc.

This book: The Five Areas of Being Human: An Assessment Tool for Therapeutic Care challenges those professionals in the business of therapeutic care to more coherently organize effective methods of behavioral assessment for the purpose of identifying the origins of problematic behaviors related to mental health and/or social problems modeled by individuals. Likewise it is this author’s belief that the best practices for organizing such a logical behavioral assessment is identifying the five areas of being human: spiritual, physical, social, psychological and vocational and developing relevant questions in association with each distinctive area; implementing effective interviewing methods and selecting appropriate therapeutic strategies. Moreover, it is the belief of this author that many persons experiencing therapeutic or medical relationships with psychiatrists, social workers, licensed practical counselors, medical physicians, etc. suffer from untreated mental health and physical conditions because this assessment model is never identified and applied by such practicing professionals. In summation, for certain, identifying the five areas of being human and developing relevant questions to ask in a therapeutic or medical relationship will effectively assist in actualizing a more cogent and helpful assessment necessary for treating and promoting healing toward those persons suffering from mental and/or physical debilitating health conditions.

Planar Processing Primer

Author: G. Anner

Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media

ISBN: 940090441X

Category: Juvenile Nonfiction

Page: 634

Planar Processing Primer is based on lecture notes for a silicon planar process ing lecture/lab course offered at the University of Illinois-UC for over fifteen years. Directed primarily to electrical engineering upperclassmen and graduate students, the material also has been used successfully by graduate students in physics and ceramic and metallurgical engineering. It is suitable for self-study by engineers trained in other disciplines who are beginning work in the semiconductor fields, and it can make circuit design engineers aware of the processing limitations under which they must work. The text describes and explains, at an introductory level, the principal processing steps used to convert raw silicon into a semiconductor device or integrated circuit. First-order models are used for theoretical treatments (e.g., of diffusion and ion implantation), with reference made to more advanced treatments, to computer programs such as SUPREM that include higher order effects, and to interactions among sequential processes. In Chapters 8, 9, and to, the application of silicon processes to compound semiconductors is discussed briefly. Over the past several years, the size of transistors has decreased markedly, allowing more transistors per chip unit area, and chip size has increased.
