The "Who Am I Now That I Am Alone?" program began after my divorce. I gathered others who had experienced divorce into a group to explore our situation and how we could move forward with our lives. This group became one of the first in the country to help people going through divorce, remember in the 70's there still was not a great deal of acceptance of divorce in the culture. Hundreds of people have experienced the program that was developed after the first group and have found it very helpful. Over the years people have asked to read the book, but it was a group process guide and not a narrative. This book translates most of the program's material, which was designed for group interaction, into a format that will allow those who have experienced loss through divorce or death to benefit from the program on their own. Chapters 1-3 concern communication, including communicating and understanding feelings. We can only develop meaningful relationships through effective communication. These chapters also work on improving both interpersonal communication skills and your internal (self-talk) communication. Chapters 4-6 focus on understanding the importance of personal relationships in our lives, guiding readers to move out and expand and deepen supportive relationships. These are important skills for enriching the quality of anyone's life. Finally, Chapters 7-8 are designed to help readers develop a more positive personal identity. Many people come out of a divorce or the loss of a relationship feeling like a failure and somewhat worthless. These chapters reintroduce readers to their authentic selves. Your authentic self has so many good qualities which, when recognized and affirmed, will offset the feelings of guilt and failure. This change in perspective will bring the motivation to leave the past behind and build a new and exciting life. CONTENTS Introduction Chapter 1 Some Understandings about Divorce Chapter 2 How to Effectively Communicate Your Feelings Chapter 3 Understanding Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communications Chapter 4 The Continuing Question: Who Am I Now That I Am Alone? Chapter 5 Expanding Friendships for Balance in Life Chapter 6 The Need for Community Chapter 7 Getting in Touch with Your Successes Chapter 8 Taking the New You into the World About the Author - James Ramsey's career has been divided into three very interesting segments. The first part of his career he served as a United Methodist Minister in Southern California, where he served three churches. The second part as a corporate trainer working for organizations like Northrop Aircraft, Fluor Corporation and the Orange County Transit District, and the last segment as a human resources director where he completed his full time work at Family Solutions an organization that worked with at risk children. Jim has also taught speech communications at several community colleges. Currently he is an independent human resource consultant for a nonprofit and also works part time in a local library. He has a Bachelor's degree in Social Science and Master of Divinity degree. During the 1970's while going through a divorce he gathered a group of people who were also going through divorce for weekly sessions and these sessions later were refined and became his divorce recovery program "Who Am I Now That I Am Alone?" This program has been delivered to hundreds of people over the years. Jim, with the assistance of other professionals, also conducted training programs to develop more leaders to deliver the program. This book by the author of Why Am I Afraid to Love? contains insights on self-awareness, personal growth and communication with others. Why do people continually hide their real selves from the people around them? Why are so many so insecure and afraid to open up? The answer, explains John Powell, is that maturity is reached by communicating and interacting with others. This book considers the consequences our real self faces if no one else ever finds out what we are like. In this enduring classic, the companion to Why Am I Afraid to Love?, John Powell explains how to be more emotionally open, and shows how people adopt roles and play psychological games to protect their inner selves. The courage to be our real selves can be developed, and then we can begin to grow. Now newly designed for a fresh audience, Why Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I Am? is as relevant as it has been for twenty years. With a proven track record, it continues to speak to the needs and aspirations of people today. It is best included in self help sections of general bookshops, but also has a religious appeal.

"Who Pooh Poohed in Your Magic Lamp?" R. Jeannie was searching to find the truth to: "Who am I?" And "Man Know Thyself." She also had a burning desire to, "Know the Truth that will set you Free." Her quest was not unique, but even she was not fully prepared for the enlightenment that she is now sharing with you. She has found the answers to these questions and more. She scoured The Holy Bible, the dictionary, and the web to gain insight and inspiration as she dissected many powerful words and their divinely inspired meanings and intentions. She has discovered and is now sharing information that may cause you to cry and shake in your boots, just as she did. R. Jeannie looked up "Genius" and found it meant: "Genie: an attendant spirit allotted to each person at his birth, to attend a person through his life." This took her to the story of Aladdin and its hidden truths. Going to the dictionary again, she found that "I" means "Ego", and this led her to the "Truth that will set You Free." She knows that she could not have written this book by herself, she felt divinely inspired. She has unraveled it, not written it, and the truths have been benevolently revealed to her. With Bible and dictionary in hand she will take you step by step, unfolding how the story (myth) about Aladdin (A-lad-in his magic lamp) contains hidden truths about Jesus and his mission here on earth. She will show that we all have a "magic lamp" and a "Genie" within us. We are the Lamp and your Genie is the light of Christ, given to be within every person ever born. Accept your God given heritage, grasp this gift, and become whole.

We see; we hear; we make use of many common things throughout our lives but do we ever really see those things? Do we ever really acknowledge or pay attention to our surroundings? This book is intended to accentuate those things that we see and use on an everyday basis; basic things that, if they could speak, would be attempting to explain to us who and what they are. How easily would we be able to recognize them while reading that particular objects descriptive review? These are not abstract objects; they are part of our everyday lives, and your challenge, while reading what these things have to say, is to ascertain who or what is communicating with you, if posible, before reaching the final descriptive paragraph. So, turn the pages and tell me Who Am I ?

The Hand of God in numerous unexplainable miracles compels this to be told. There is more than hope for those that believe. No question is more central to Christian living, preaching, and theology than Jesus' question to his disciples: Who do you say that I am? Some would have it that pastors and theologians, biblical exegetes and historians, dogmatic and moral theologians, Catholic and Evangelical have more differences than similarities in the way Christians with such diverse vocations respond to Jesus' question. And there is little doubt that there sometimes seem to be unbridgeable gulfs between the way historians and believers, Internet gossipers and preachers, classical christological debates and present-day praying and pastoral care implicitly or explicitly address the Lord's question. But the authors here address these and other issues in ways that are remarkably convergent, as if a "Catholic and Evangelical theology" for proclaiming and following Jesus today has emerged, or is indeed emerging.

I wrote about my own story from the time I was born until the present. I decided to write my book a long time ago, especially if I learned who my natural parents were. Even though I haven't found my natural parents, I chose to write about my adventures in searching and about my adopted parents who eventually wanted nothing to do with me. That is waht my book is about. The only problem that I had with my story is that there is no resolution to my search. I hired Omni Trace in Delray Beach, Florida three or four years ago, and they can't find the name of my natural parents, let alone my adopted mother, even though I gave them her surname. I hope that my not being able to find my natural parents isn't a detriment to my book being published. I knew that I was taking my chances when I wrote my book if there was no resolution to my very long search that I not only conducted myself, but that which Omni Trace conducted, also.
